    I get a “java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/log4j/spi/ThrowableInformation” exception when trying to create an account.

    Very cool. When I first signed up for an account I couldn’t add an expense or income item because I hadn’t yet created any categories. Took me a bit to figure out where to do this. I would suggest either adding a set of default categories or making it easier to find this from the add income/expense page.
